What We Do

Founded in 2019 as the Zoological Community of Celebes, we centered our work on research, conservation, and wildlife education in Sulawesi and its surrounding islands. Beginning in 2025 we evolved into Masyarakat Zoologi Wallacea, broadening our reach across the entire Wallacea region, forging partnerships with local communities, and grounding every biodiversity-protection effort in rigorous field science.

Our Mission

Masyarakat Zoologi Wallacea (MZW) is a science-based NGO dedicated to safeguarding the unique wildlife and ecosystems of the Wallacea region—an archipelago where Asian and Australasian species meet. We combine field research, community-driven education and policy advocacy to ensure that both people and biodiversity thrive together.

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”

— Robert Swan
