Small Steps for the Conservation of Endemic Fauna in Lake Poso, an Ancient Lake in the Heart of Sulawesi
On July 22, 2026, at the RRI Palu Studio in Palu City, Central Sulawesi, the Wallacea Zoological Society (MZW) shared stories about various programs that have been carried out, are currently underway, and will be carried out to protect and preserve the endemic fauna of Lake Poso. Lake Poso, the largest lake in Central Sulawesi and an ancient lake, plays a major role as a water source for hydropower and irrigation, an economic resource for fisheries activities, and a habitat for various endemic animals. This momentum provided by RRI Palu is very good for us in our efforts to disseminate information as well as an educational program to the public about the important role of all key elements, including the local NGO, youth community, researchers, government, and the local community, to work together to protect Lake Poso so that it can continue to provide benefits to humans, especially the people of Central Sulawesi.
